4500 square foot home consisting of a three-story add on to the south side of the home plus new roof and new gutters. Yeadon Sparks Homes, lead by Andy Sparks and Tim Yeadon, both Warren Township Fire Fighters, matched fourteen-year-old brick and rooflines as well as added finishing touches to an already immaculate home with landscaping and outdoor living areas.
A not-so-empty nest
Options were somewhat restricted for the Yeary’s because their home embraces many precious memories; they love their neighbors and their golf course lot. One thing was certain, they needed more space for entertaining, hosting visiting friends and family and elbowroom in a crowded bathroom and shared closet. What this translated to was an extension and face-lift to an already generous basement, sprawling master bath, relocated and redesigned custom his and her closets plus a guest room with a full bath and sitting area.
“You only had to mention something one time that you wanted done and Andy Sparks would see that it was completed. In our existing house as we corrected things that were inherited from the previous contractor, Andy's expertise of solving and correcting the problem was very impressive,” comments Beverly Yeary.
Not all bathrooms are created equal
In-floor heating, granite countertops, walk-in shower with a waterfall and body sprays greet the Yeary’s as each day breaks. At sunset an over-sized ornate, mosaic tiled soaking tub washes away the day’s stress, unless they choose to visit the hot tub near the fire pit on the new blue slate patio outside their bedroom doors. What was once the shared vanity are now two, with a make-up station for the Mrs. Around the corner you’ll find Mrs. Yeary enjoying the new addition where her eighteen by twelve foot custom closet holds her belongings. Imagine his closet as the old bathroom with standard one-piece bathtub unit now a masculine cherry stained custom closet for the man of the house.
Alarms sound on the ground floor
With the gratifying tasks of redesigning the most beloved areas of the home, choosing archetypal blue stone slate on the patio and cherry stained maple cabinetry, the Yeary’s were confronted with a serious problem. Andy Sparks presented quite a surprise to what could’ve been easily passed up by even the most scrupulous expert. The problem: the foundation had experienced major settling. The solution: piers were installed to support the current foundation and the home was raised to put it back where it needed to be. Cracks in the brick were remortarted and other esthetic remedies performed. Not normally a tool in the remodelers toolbox, Yeadon Sparks was able to accommodate and repair this severe problem with ease.
Setting the world on fire
Cooking up a storm in the Yeary basement is a breeze on a Florida-sized brick encased peninsula island surrounding a tile-floored full kitchen with gourmet appliances. Looking toward the new corner built-in entertainment center adjacent to the existing fireplace, friends and family enjoy the game room addition. “Andy's expectation, as he was in the project, was to always direct us to do the highest quality of work and also he would do the little things as if it were his own home even though it might mean extra work for him,” adds Beverly.
